Practical Nursing

In the Practical Nursing program, you will be prepared to succeed within a critical nursing role in hospitals and
doctors' offices.

In the Practical Nursing program you will:

  • Become eligible to take the Practical Nurse Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN). Porter and Chester Institute's Practical Nursing Program has an extremely high pass rate on the licensing examination!! Once you become an LPN, you are qualified to secure a well paying, promising, fulfilling career in this growing field.
  • Gain the hands-on skills and the knowledge base necessary for direct nursing care of patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and doctor's offices, as well as in a variety of specialties such as obstetrical and pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing, adult and geriatric nursing.
  • Class size is small giving you the advantage of personal attention. This will be prepared to provide nursing care to individuals with a variety of health problems at various stages of the life span within the many nursing roles: provider of care, manager of care, and member of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Receive Lifetime Placement assistance. Each PCI campus has full-time Graduate Employment Specialists dedicated to helping all of our graduates find that job that is just right for them.

In addition to instruction and laboratory experience in a constantly evolving on-site facility, you will also experience a hands-on education in a variety of clinical settings including direct access to patients.

Practical Nursing class days are from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and clinical days are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with the occasional Friday as needed.

The Practical Nursing Program is offered at the following campuses:
