Our Canton Campus has teamed up with the American Red Cross, to host a Blood Drive and Marrow Testing Day.
We would like to extend an invitation to the community to take part in this event and help support the community blood supply, and become registered as a marrow donor.
The event will take place at our Canton campus on Spetmeber 8th, 2010 from 9a – 2p.
Every two second, in the United States some one needs blood, and every pint donated could save up to three lives. In the Northeast Division of the state approximately 3,000 pints of blood are needed daily to meet the needs of our community. Each day this blood supply must be replenished.
This year over 30,000 patients will be diagnosed with diseases treatable only by a bone marrow transplant or blood stem cell transplant- many will never find a match. These diseases include leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, aplastic anemia, radiation poisoning and some genetic diseases. A simple swabbing of the cheek will allow you to be tested and know you may have possibly taken the first step in saving someone’s life.
Please join the students, staff and faculty of Porter and Chester Institute in trying to make a difference in the lives of others. The donations you make may just be the one that saves your loved one.
Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go online to www.RedCrossBlood.org to set up an appointment.
