Our Student Project Car – The hard-to-get Nissan Skyline!

A professional driving instructor from the Skip Barber Racing School at Lime Rock Park puts our Nissan Skyline to the test.

Porter and Chester Institute’s 2000 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R (V-Spec)

Have you had a chance to get an up-close view of the vehicle made famous by movies such as “The Fast and the Furious” and video games like “Grand Turismo”. The car nicknamed “Godzilla” (monster from Japan) lives up to its lore with over 450 stock horsepower (700 with simple modifications or may be built to reach over 1200) out of a 2.6L Inline 6-cylinder engine.  Other specifications include:

  • Twin turbo w/ electronic boost control
  • APEXI turbo Timer
  • Ready Inter-cooler
  • HKS F con-air/fuel management controller
  • 6-speed manual transmission
  • ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive
  • Super HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension) all-wheel steering
  • Fully adjustable coil-over suspension
  • V-Spec (Victory Specification)- Front air dam and rear carbon fiber air diffuser
  • Runs on 100 octane fuel

The Nissan Skyline is one of several vehicles owned by Porter and Chester Institute to allow their automotive technology students the opportunity to work on some the most advanced automotive technology available.

The vehicle was donated to an organization in California affiliated with Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) and is also used by Porter and Chester to promote safe driving, as well as Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.). It was disassembled in Japan and reassembled by Nissanie Motorsports in the U.S. before being purchased by Porter and Chester Institute.
