Medical Assisting
The course work in this program consists of clinical and administrative projects taken from actual medical office environments and prepares you to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification tests. In other words, it provides you with the knowledge and skill required for competent performance in today's medical offices, hospitals, and other health services environments.
For example, you'll take blood pressures, perform EKG's and other medical lab procedures. You'll learn how to assist physicians in various situations, as well as prep patients, set up schedules, and manage a medical office. By the time you graduate, you'll be qualified to secure a well-paid, promising position in this growing and unusually needed occupation.
Depending on your personal needs and situation you attend classes either during the day or in the evening.
Evening classes meet for 13 and a half months and consist of 42 credit hours (720 actual classroom and lab hours plus 180 hours of externship). The attendance schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:45 PM.
The Medical Assisting Program is offered in Branford, Enfield, Rocky Hill, Stratford, Watertown, Chicopee and Westborough.
Classes begin every six weeks.
