Each year, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation looks for the next generation of aspiring workers who will work smart and hard. The Work Ethic Scholarship Program doesn’t focus on test scores, grades, or grammar. It’s about the people who share our values and understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude.

High School Graduate Scholarship Grant

2024 High School Graduate Scholarship Grant

Porter and Chester Institute is offering a $2,000 tuition grant to 2024 high school, home school, or adult education graduates

To apply, complete your online application. When prompted for your graduation date, enter your tentative date. After receiving your valid high school diploma, transcript, or letter of certification (GED/HiSET), upload it to the documents section on your admissions portal. Upon speaking with your Educational Funding specialist, inform them when you graduated. You will be informed once a determination has been made if you qualify.

Grant offer expires 10/31/2024.

Bridgeport Boatworks and Hornblower Marine Announce Local Scholarships Worth $15,000 to Support Local Maritime Careers

Bridgeport Boatworks and Hornblower Marine are partnering to offer six scholarships supporting students at Porter and Chester Institute's Bridgeport and New London campuses. The scholarships, totaling $15,000.00 and valued at $2,500.00 per student, will be dedicated to local Bridgeport and New London residents and will continue to establish the Bridgeport waterfront as a maritime industry leader and job center.

Bridgeport Boatworks – Skilled Trades Scholarship
Prospective students interested in the Welding, Electrical Technology, HVACR, or Automotive Technology programs may apply for the Bridgeport Boatworks scholarship. Scholarship applicants must be residents of Bridgeport and New London, CT interested in a maritime industry career.

Family Member Tuition Grant

Family Member Tuition Grant

Porter and Chester Institute (PCI) offers the Family Member Tuition Grant for applicants with an immediate family member who is a student or graduate of PCI, or an employee of Porter and Chester Institute or YTI Career Institute. In this case, an immediate family member is defined as the applicant’s spouse, child or step-child, parent or step-parent, or sibling or step-sibling.

There is a specific form that qualified applicants must fill out in order to be considered for this grant. Before filling out the application, it is important to have these pieces of information ready:

  • Date you intend to start classes at PCI
  • Name of your immediate family member
  • Family member relationship to you
  • Family member affiliation to the school (i.e. current student, graduate, employee)

In order to be approved for this grant you may be required to document your relationship to the PCI student, graduate or employee or to apply for the Federal Pell Grant.

If you believe you qualify for this grant, download the form, complete the necessary information, and upload it to your documents section on the admissions portal prior to your Educational Funding meeting. Upon speaking with your Educational Funding specialist, let them know that you have uploaded a Family Member Tuition Grant application. You will be informed once a determination has been made if you qualify.
